“We had a memorable Sunday lunch perched above the stainless steel tanks, providing a novel setting to taste test their wines while enjoying a menu by Carl Tel,” Homegirl London.

Sunday Lunch At Renegade Urban Winery

On our visit, the Sunday lunch menu was by Carl Tel. We started with a few vegetarian small plates to share. We skipped the whipped cod roe with pane carasau. The padrón peppers were satisfying yet straightforward, sprinkled with piquant salt and nicely charred.

Feta croquettes with salsa verde had a crisp shell that gave way to a soft, tangy centre.

Meanwhile, the mushroom and truffle arancini were rich, earthy, and perfectly bite-sized. Starters range from £6 to £10.

For mains, we shared the succulent roast miso-glazed aubergine, which came plated with roast potatoes and a generous Yorkshire pudding, along with some gravy.

The seasonal veg sat on an accompanying plate, and we had a small bowl of cauliflower cheese. We divided up the food and tucked in; everything tasted wonderful, except it was a tad too salty for us, as we don’t add salt to any of our food at home. Saying that we still enjoyed it, especially as we didn’t have to cook it ourselves!

Other roast options on the menu included roast rump of beef, chicken, leg of lamb, and pork belly, all served with the same generous accompaniments. Mains range from £18 to £24.

To finish, we shared the orange polenta cake with lime crème fraîche. It was light, zesty, and refreshing, with the right citrus notes. There was also a boozy affogato on the menu with vanilla ice cream, espresso, and Baileys for something more indulgent. Desserts are priced between £8 and £9.50.

The general menu has a Mediterranean influence and playful twists. It blends relaxed small plates and sides with a few bigger centrepiece dishes. There’s an emphasis on fresh, vibrant flavours, think focaccia with olive oil, whipped cod roe with rocket pesto, roasted aubergine with harissa yoghurt, and prawn skewers with chilli and Thai basil. Vegetarian and vegan options are well represented, like Jerusalem artichoke with pesto mayo. On Thursdays, they serve wine and cheese.
