Favourite Five Pieces from the Old Cinema
To give you an idea of the amazing pieces you’ll discover in this shop, I’ve picked out five items to share with you. I just love this Oak Haberdasher Shop Unit which is straight out of a Mr Selfridge TV Show set. If only I had room at home I would snap this up in an instant. You get sixteen compartments with flip down glass fronts and four larger drawers at the bottom. It’s ideal for a dressing room or a vintage bedroom. The measurements are 190cm high, 94cm wide and 50cm in depth – £1350.

This Vintage LP Cupboard is absolutely adorable. It’s perfect for storing your LP or 12” records, remember those? If you don’t have any prized vinyl you can always use this cabinet in your living room for general storage purposes. Or perhaps you could put it to good use in your dining room to house your crockery. The patterned doors are gorgeous and groovy! Measurements are 76cm high, 73cm wide and 38cm in depth – £250-350 (says different prices in-store and on website).

For a bright three seater sofa you might want to sink right into this re-upholstered Denmark settee from 1970. With individual back and seat cushions and exquisite piping around the edges, it is rather ravishing. In a distinctive yellow colour it will certainly make your guests sit up and take notice. The measurements are 80cm high, 200cm wide and 83cm in depth – £1100.

The Old Cinema Shop and Stock
As the shop name suggests, this store is situated inside an old Edwardian cinema which was in operation from 1908 until 1934. It then stood empty for two decades and was a temporary parachute storage during the Second World War. In the 1950s the building was used as a Victorian furniture shop. Fast forward to the 70s and the premises were considered for demolition until a couple of local antique dealers stepped and saved the day, hooray!

It’s such a fantastic building inside and out so do stop to admire the exterior when you arrive. Inside there are quite a few floors and different levels to explore so do make sure you get to see everything. The furniture, lighting and home accessories are very well presented so you do have space to view each object. They also have customer toilets available which is handy to know because once you step inside this emporium you are likely to be there for a while!

There are quite a few different sections to explore which are themed around different furniture eras and styles. You’ll find antiques including 19th Century Mahogany Chests, an Edwardian Gentleman’s Wash Stand and a Victorian Oak Writing Table. Art Deco gems range from Bentwood Lounge Chairs to a Walnut Cocktail Cabinet. Arts and Crafts finds include an Oak Sideboard and a Mahogany and Mother of Pearl Dressing Screen. The Danish and Mid Century collections have plenty of re-upholstered sofas and armchairs plus streamlined sideboards. Vintage pieces include cinema chairs, coca cola crates and brown leather armchairs. You’ll also find some industrial items such as Steel Desks, Sewing Machine Base Tables and Shipping Container Sideboards.

It doesn’t stop there because you can also buy upcycled lamps like the accordion one I mentioned. Side tables have been made out of tin cans and sack trolleys made into coffee tables. You might have seen the Sarah Moore Project on TV, well this is where you can buy those upcycled pieces from. You’ll find them in-store and also on the website if you’re interested.
