Finds: tarnished vintage mirror

Homegirl London finds a Vintage Tarnish Octagon Mirror.  Designer Ruth Parker got in touch with me and I fell in love with her work at first sight.  She’s a designer / maker specialising in creating bespoke pieces that are highly crafted with exciting and intricate ideas.  She loves up-cycling and often uses reclaimed materials such as discarded wall mirrors and vintage compacts which are destined for land fill.  Ruth rescues these and makes them in to objects of beauty which can live another life.  This gorgeous one-of-a-kind vintage mirror has been hand-finished by Ruth using a specially developed tarnishing technique which makes for a pretty pattern rather like cascading flowers falling across the surface.  This measures 13” high, 21” wide and 0.5” in diameter.  You can buy this particular product for $1,498 from www.shopterrain.com.  Find out more about Ruth by visiting her website www.ruthparker.co.uk.  Credits: text by Homegirl London, image courtesy of Shop Terrain, special thanks to Ruth Parker.
