“For a heartwarming breakfast in West Norwood, head to neighbourhood gem Sweet Carolina serving all your favourites from Nutty Granola Bowl to Shakshuka, Avocado on Toast and more,” Homegirl London.
Sweet Carolina Breakfast Menu
The breakfast menu offers a delightful range of simple yet delicious options until midday. Indulge in a Nutty Granola Bowl, a lovely combination of homemade granola, fresh berry compote, and either Greek or coconut yoghurt, and all topped off with a delectable fruit syrup. If that doesn’t appeal, consider the warm Homemade Banana Bread, accompanied by buttercream, dulce de leche, banana, Greek yoghurt and berries. Prices are £7.50 and £6.75 respectively.
For those who love baked eggs, the menu showcases Shakshuka, a North African dish my friend selected. This Shakshuka boasts two eggs baked in a zesty mixed pepper sauce, paired with harissa coconut yoghurt and feta in a cast iron pan with a couple of pieces of sourdough toast for dipping. Vegans can enjoy a twist on this by replacing the egg and feta with roasted aubergines and dukkah. Alternatively, there’s the Huevos Rancheros, which brings a taste of Mexico with its two eggs baked in a fiery jalapeno sauce, served alongside salsa, paprika potatoes and sourdough toast. They cost £9.50.
The Avocado on Toast is an excellent pick if you’re in the mood for a lighter fare. I loved it. The creamy mashed avocado is perfectly seasoned with lemon, salt, and chilli flakes and is complemented by rocket and black beans for £8.50. I enhanced mine by adding a poached egg feta, and dukkah. For those with a smaller appetite, there’s the classic Peanut Butter on Toast, and if you have a sweet tooth, you can enjoy it with Jam on Toast with their homemade berry jam.
They serve Volcano Coffee Mountain Blend, which is very good. They also have a selection of teas and soft drinks.
