Nola Coffee, Peckham, London SE15, is a friendly place offering caffeine and exceptional food. The owners are Anthony and Josephine, a local couple who toured for six years with their band, Oh Wonder. Wherever they found themselves, local coffee shops helped them to feel at home. Nola was inspired by these experiences, especially during the trying times of the Covid lockdown. If you’re looking for the best coffee shops in Peckham, places for lunch in SE15, or a cosy spot to meet a friend, Nola Coffee is the place to be.
“Nola is a super friendly coffee shop offering a big welcome and tasty food to put a smile on your face from breakfast to noon,” Homegirl London.
Nola Coffee and Food Menu
Walking into Nola, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a testament to their commitment to quality. Sourced ethically and sustainably by Stephen Houston of Lucid Coffee Roasters, each cup is exceptional. The café boasts a Mavam Mach 2 Espresso Machine, a rarity in the UK, ensuring that every brew is perfectly crafted. Their rotating filter coffee selection, changing every fortnight, showcases a variety of roasters, keeping the offerings fresh and exciting.
You’ll find a concise yet delicious food menu if you fancy something. Start your morning with the Nola Plate. It’s a delightful offering with sourdough, cultured butter, Cracklebean eggs, and an ensemble of avocado, salsa macha and glazed cherry tomatoes. It also includes their honey-seed oat granola, complete with a seasonal fruit compote and a sprinkle of toasted nuts. Those who lean towards a lighter breakfast might find solace in their overnight oats, a creamy concoction of oat milk, pumpkin seeds, blueberries and honey.
You can try their smoked salmon bagels and muffins for lunch, adorned with a medley of cream cheese, beef tomato and pickled red onions. Or you may prefer the egg mayo brioche bun bursting with dill and salsa macha flavours. A favourite is their challah roll, packed with curried chickpeas and fresh veggies.
On cold days, their grilled cheese sandwiches will warm you up. Traditionalists can stick to plain cheese, while the adventurous can experiment with additions like kimchi. On sunnier days, the Oatly soft serve, with hints of Columbian espresso and chocolate sauce, provides a welcome respite.
Sweet tooths aren’t forgotten. The display counter teases with various pastries and cakes – from croissants and cinnamon buns to delectable slices of banana bread and pistachio-courgette cake.
Accompanying their coffee are Good and Proper Teas, the refreshing “You and I” Kombucha made from ‘wonky’ vegetables, and Daily Dose cold-pressed juices.
