Vivo is a new Italian Café, Bakery and Bar located on Upper Street, London N1. This place is all about Italian food with a modern twist. It’s somewhere to try if you’re looking for Upper Street Restaurants.
Vivo use the finest regional Italian ingredients to produce a selection of salads, paninis and pizzas. You’ll find the food displayed along the 14 metre granite food counter. I popped in for breakfast with my Homeboy. He had an almond croissant. I opted for the muesli with fruit and yoghurt. With two lattes our bill came to £11.20.

There’s much more on offer for lunch. You can find some nice salads. For example – black venere rice with oven roasted tomatoes. If you like fish opt for the rocket with salmon. The stracciatella, radicchio and pomegranate was very good. They serve soups including a Tuscan bean soup in hollowed out sourdough bread. Or you can opt for antipasti boards of fine cheeses and cured meats. There’s a large selection of hot sandwiches – panini and focaccia. Or treat yourself to a slice of pizza. They also have hot dishes like pork cannelloni and meatballs. Specials will include soup of the day and something like beef lasagne and pumpkin salad.
I was still in the vicinity at lunch time so I decided to pop back to try the lunch menu. I enjoyed a really tasty salad with a slice of Parmigiana Pizza.

They have a good selection of cakes which you’ll find displayed at the counter. Perhaps try the Limoncello and almond cake. Other delights include pistachio and black cherry tart and chocolate pear cake.
The coffee selection includes Caffé Shakerato. They have a good wine list which has plenty of Italian regional options. Try an Italian cocktail or fine liqueur and the Amalfi Coast speciality of Limoncello.
The ground floor area is quite spacious. The long granite serving counter runs right down one side of the space which is echoed by a large communal table. The walls are predominately white with some rusitc touches – stone cladding and rustic wood adorning other walls. There are a few tables by the window and some outside the front of the eatery. There is a bar situated at the back of the room and they also have a roof terrace.
